The National Intelligence Agency on Thursday published why the agency stopped the arrest of its former DG, Ambassador Ayodele Oke, via the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Director general of the company, Ambassador Mohammed Dauda, gave the factors before a Senate adhoc committee.
Dauda mentioned the move to arrest the former DG was first mentioned in the media even earlier than the EFCC concluded on its role on the dilemma.
He further stated that NIA is a secret provider whose operation are clandestine and enormously labeled.
Accordingly, he said it is natural to guard the company from extra bad publicity.
The performing DG stated there was no reliable verbal exchange to the company from the EFCC on the specific mission of its operatives to the dwelling of Oke.
Dauda denied receiving of any letter from the acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, requesting for the give up of the former DG of the NIA, including that the one letter acquired from the EFCC chairman was once a risk to record the behavior of the NIA to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking before the Senate ad-hoc committee, Dauda regretted that the EFCC underneath Magu has been adversarial to and uncooperative with the NIA, leading to the big withdrawal of NIA operatives from the carrier of the EFCC
