The international criminal court (ICC) has stepped up investigations against Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Malami Abubakar (SAN) has said
He said this while playing host to the President of the ICC Prof. Chile Osuji at his office at Abuja.
Out of six of the potential cases been investigated, - six were against Boko Haram terrorists while the other - four were against The Nigerian Army.
He stated that this is perturbing, as Nigeria has demonstrated beyond doubt full cooperation with the ICC and as a matter of fact is willing to arrest, investigate and prosecute anyone with offences that falls into the Rome status of the ICC.
Stating firmly, that although Nigeria veins the escalation of the eight cases as uncalled for. "It would not deter us from further expressing and demonstrating full support to the ICC".
In response Prof. Chile Osuji praised Nigeria for it's undaunted support to the ICC and pledged that the court would continue to push against injustice, and abuse of power within its jurisdiction.
The ICC President described as inaccurate the effect that Article 27 of the Rome Statute that prohibits immunity being accelerated to any head of state or senior executive officers was aimed at African leaders
