The warning was issued as a result of the planned protest by the Ikeja Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association against the increase in fees payable for the Land Use Charge.
The Lagos State Police Command has warned that it would not tolerate any plan by any group to stage protest in any part of the state during the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The police said measures have been put in place to arrest anyone that attempts to breach security.
The warning was issued as a result of the planned protest by the Ikeja Branch of the Nigeria Bar Association against the increase in fees payable for the Land Use Charge.
The protest is planned to coincide with President Buhari’s commissioning of the Ikeja Bus Terminal.
The Commissioner, Lagos State Police Command, Edgal Imohimi, said: “To be forewarned is to be fore armed.
“We will arrest anyone who comes out tomorrow (today) to protest and charge him with very sever offences.
“In addition, it has come to the command’s notice that NBA Ikeja branch is being used by disgruntled politicians in Lagos.
“The issue of Land Use Charge has been addressed by the NBA.
“They were with me, they registered for police back up in an earlier planned protest.
“Since it is their fundamental right to stage peaceful protest, I provided them policemen and they did their protest peacefully.
“For them now to issue another press release to say that they are taking the protest to Mr. President who has nothing to do with the Land Use Charge shows they are being used.
“We will treat them as such if they come out tomorrow.
“They have been warned.”
